I am helping Free Our Neighbors to free someone from immigration detention before the holidays! Free Our Neighbors partners with community organizations across the United States to identify specific immigration cases in which bond should be paid and to set up local bond funds. The fund was started by my close friend, Alisa Whitfield, in conjunction with several other lawyers. Alisa is an Alameda County Public Defender and a future professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. My hope is to raise $2,500 for the bond fund by January first- I hope you will help me reach this goal. After an individual's case is complete bond funds are returned so that they can be used again to assist other immigrants. Feel free to get in touch with any questions!
You can help! Free Our Neighbors is raising money to free immigrants and asylum seekers from immigration detention, where people often have to wait for months while their immigration case is resolved. This administration is jailing more and more immigrants, which separates communities and makes it extremely hard for people to find lawyers and collect evidence. People who are able to leave immigration detention during their immigration case are much more likely to win their cases.
Free Our Neighbors is getting a lot of requests for help and we are hoping to free as many people as possible! We have a list of people who are waiting for our help to go home to their families and communities.
Please donate now to free someone so they can return to their family! No donation is too small. At the end of the immigration case, the bond money will be returned so the money can be used again to free another person.
